I do the same thing, but with Quicksilver.  I save .webloc files in a folder that’s periodically scanned by Quicksilver.  Its really easy because all I have to do to add a website is just drag the site from the browser to the folder on my desktop and its done.  No manually creating custom searches or anything.  In fact, I’m sure you could do the same thing with Alfred.

Cool tip on launching sites (and url shortening) with Alfred! I’ll have to give that a try. This isn’t really an app-launcher tip, but one thing I do as an efficiency “time-saver” is to use Fluid (a site specific browser) for things like Basecamp, Google Reader, Gmail, etc. You could set one up for each web app you use. The nice thing is that each SSB occupies it’s own system processes, so theoretically, if Safari crashes, the Fluid instance won’t crash (although I’ve never had this actually happen). And you can still use Alfred to quickly launch the SSB.

I use is.gd for URL shortening, so I set up the following shortcut in Alfred:

Search URL: http://is.gd/api.php?longurl={query}

Display Text: Shorten URL

Keyword: isgd

So now all I have to do is trigger Alfred, type “isgd “, paste in a URL, and hit return. So good!

All valid points.  Thanks. I had trouble before sending html emails, but with many programs now it’s very simple to send a plain text email as well for those people that don’t accept html.

This is a great script and tutorial–very readable. I have this working on a page on my site, but I was hoping to have multiple instances of it, one slideshow showing Set1 and one showing Set2? Is this possible? I can’t figure it out, since the function isn’t being called.
